Please note that this watch is not brand new in box or perfect, it is darned near perfect but even so, not perfect. There are two (just barely visible with the naked eye) imperfections on this watch: one pencil mark sized mark on the PVD surface of the bezel at seven o'clock and 2 tiny pin head sized marks (through the PVD coating) at the edge of the bezel and the edge of the case at twelve o'clock. Please review our detailed photos and note that we have circled these marks in our photos.
 

So here is your chance to buy an ultra rare Panerai watch that is totally unavailable in not quite perfect, But certainly respectable and wearable condition. The good news is that when you wear this watch, the first mark you get on the bezel or case wont hurt that bad!!!
 
The back story of this watch is that it was created and designed with input from the Paneristi.com forum moderators and other Panerai collectors/enthusiasts. The other part of the story is that this watch was created in memory of a Paneristi.com community member who passed away and went by the moniker WWBBQD or simply "BBQ." When the 360 was announced, it was decided to nickname the 360 in memory of this departed and honored paneristi.com community member hence the nickname BBQ is synonymous with the 360. RIP BBQ....
 
What makes this watch controversial and near impossible to find anywhere is the method by which this watch was distributed/sold. THIS WATCH WAS NOT SOLD IN RETAIL STORES OR THROUGH AUTHORIZED PANERAI DEALERS. In order to get this watch, you had to be CHOSEN to receive this watch. The official process was to submit your name in a random lottery and be specially chosen to receive this watch. Although no one in the Panerai collectors community was surprised over who actually was 'chosen' to receive this watch. In any case, according to Panerai, Over 2500 people entered this lottery and only 300 people received this watch!!!!
 
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!!!! What really fuels the fire and makes this watch such a powderkeg waiting for a match to blow this thing up is that the Paneristi.com watch trading forum prohibited the advertising or resale of this watch on their watch trading forum citing that resale of this watch at a profit would somehow besmirch the memory of BBQ.

 The PAM 140 is still the only 44mm 18k yellow gold watch ever made by Panerai with an automatic movement. THe 18k gold is described as being 18k yellow gold with a tinge of rose gold. IMO the watch is more rose gold than yellow gold and the rose color is accentuated when worn with a tan or dark brown alligator strap and natural colors. TO me, that is what makes this watch so unique and so special--it is versatile and timeless and can be worn with either yellow gold or rose gold.
Produced for only 5 years (E,F,G,H and I) in only 300-500 pieces per year. Even 3 years after it was discontinued, the PAM140 is still the only 18k yellow gold/rose gold 44mm automatic luminor marina ever made......as of the discontinuation of this watch, the last published retail price for the pam140 was $28,900.

(Prior to the release of the PAM 116/118, only the PAM 36 Marina Militare had a see thru sappire caseback) PAM 116 Made in only 2 years for E and F series (2002 & 2003 production years) PAM 116 was replaced with PAM 176 for G series. Most significant change was the black dial replacing the tobacco brown dial—‘this marked the end of an era’ F series PAM 116 was produced in only 300 individually numbered pieces. Prior E series PAM 116 was produced in an edition numbered out of 1200 pieces. Discontinued after being made in very limited numbers for only 2 prodution years (H & I series)
THE ONLY 44MM AUTOMATIC LUMINOR WATCHES TO FEATURE A 44MM STAINLESS STEEL CASE AND (THE ORIGINAL VERSION-2 PIECE LINKS) BRACELET WHERE BOTH LINKS WERE STAINLESS STEEL.  Every other 44mm Luminor on Bracelet with original version bracelet features a 44mm brushed titanium case and titanium/stainless steel bracelet.  (with one exception, the PAM 236 44mm Daylight Chronograph features a stainless steel case and stainless steel original style bracelet but that watch is all brushed/matte finish.
